Tonight I went to a Thai food restaurant “Thai Fight Gold” in Furumachi 8-banchi. It is one block north from the Bus route, the opposite side of road of Niigata City Hotel. Please use the following latitude and longitude for google maps.

It is on the second floor (in British sense, the first floor), but you will easily find the place because these boards are put around the entrance.

Because it’s the center of night entertainment area of Furumachi, and the inside of the restaurant looked like a night club, I actually worried about the charge they would ask my to pay.

For the first time in a Thai food restaurant, I always order Green Curry.

The lady in the restaurant told me that these pieces of red pepper were so hot. Thanks to her advice, I got rid of them to avoid a fire incident in my mouth. If a fire had happened, my beer would have been a fire extinguisher. Luckily enough that did not happen.

You see green leaves as well as red pepper. I asked the lady and chef what herb this was. He said like “Holaper” (Sorry for misspelling, I don’t know the correct one). The herb had so good flavor that I wanted to plant it on my garden. Checking on the internet, it seems to be “sweet basil”. Let me plant seeds of it in back of my house some day.

Here came the Advertisement paper towel of my Japanese lesson. When I paid, I handed this to the lady. Although one of my concerns was that the charge would be expensive in such a night club like place, it was quite reasonable! Don’t worry about that, you guys. This is very good Thai restaurant. Actually people in Chad recommended me coming here. I also strongly recommend you. Go eat a lot of Thai food in “Thai Fight Gold”!

またまた1,730円ぽっちで、宣伝ティッシュを 配ってください などとお願いする ずうずうしいおっさんです。グリーンカレーにのっているハーブは何ですかときいたら「ボラパー」というふうにおっしゃっていました。ネットで調べたらスウィートバジルだそうで、きっと種も売っていることでしょう。春が来たら、畑に植えてみたいです。

Shish kebab. Actually it was so good as a snack with Beer.

Yes, this is my whole dinner tonight.

Dipping the nan into curry…..do you want to eat? By the way, their curry has five ranks from hottest (5) to mild for kids(1). Last time I chose (2), so this time I tried (3). I tasted that rank three(3) is kinda best fit for me.

I didn’t leave my Advertisement paper towel like this. I handed it to the person in the restaurant. Anyway it was so good. If you want to eat Indian&Nepali food, go and eat a lot in STAR!

 

ビールを注文したら、塩っぱいクラッカーのようなものをつまみに出してくれました。某種料理店のように、アルコールにお通し代が加算されたりはしません。辛さ段階は前回の２からアップして３に挑戦。私にはちょうどいいくらいでした。次に４に進むかというと、あまり無理はせず、３で良いような気がします。

This is the first time that Korean Dining “Lu” appears on my blog. It is located at two blocks south of Mitsukoshi department store, and on the opposite side of Shimizu Food Center. I forgot to take a picture of the outside of the restaurant. So my photo starts from a cup of Makgeolli. When I ordered, I thought “Ah, it will be just a little of Makkolli in small glass”. But they gave me more Makkori in bigger cup than I expected.

Anyway, it is always Sundubu jjigae in the new Korean restaurant.

The dining is very clean. Actually I thought the clean restaurant serves expensive meal. But I should say, it had been just my prejudice. The charges I paid was quite reasonable in this Korean restaurant “Korean Dining Lu(:)”.

On Wednesday I went to Haerbin Canting (hā ěr bīn cān tīng, 哈尔滨餐厅, Harupin Sancho, Halupin Sancho, Harubin Sanchou, Harbin Restaurant) in Furumachi. It was for my dinner. For your convenience, the following is latitude and longitude for Google maps.

To tell the truth, I went to Tosho-hanten in Honcho first. But the restaurant was closed because now is the time of Chinese New Year. They are having a long vacation. I wish the family take a good rest and come back to Niigata in March. What was in my head was Shrimp with Chili sauce when I was heading to Tosho-Hanten. I saw the restaurant was being closed and then I turned to Harpin Canting.

My mind was so much occupied with Chili Sauced Shrimp, as I got to Harbin Canting, I immediately ordered it and rice without checking the menu. Actually I should have ordered “Ebi Tama Han” which was a set menu with several dishes with chili sauced shrimp. But I think it is okay, because sometimes it is good to have a simple meal like you see in the photo.

Japanese call this famous Chinese food dish “Ebichili”.

By the way, this is Harbin Can ting. So the name of the restaurant tells us that they came from the northern part of China. I asked the lady in the restaurant, with several Chinese restaurants’ names in Niigata, if there was a  Chinese restaurant whose cook came from the southern part of China. She was not sure. Even she was not sure for names of other Chinese restaurants. Although I had an impression that Chinese people would have a strong tie with other Chinese as a network in a foreign country like here, maybe I am not correct. Perhaps it is because this Harupinsancho is located in the center of night entertainment area of Furumachi. The customers are coming midnight and early morning. Open hours of this restaurant are different from other Chinese restaurants in Honcho. So she has less time to communicate with other Chinese. But these are just my guesses.

Of course I left this package. When I asked her “Zhong guo ren lai ma?” She answered to me “Lai”. This time my Chinese was smoothly understood.

中華料理の「ハルピン餐庁古町店 」も３回目。前回はティッシュを持って行きませんでしたが、今回は置いてきました。騰翔飯店が一ヶ月休むのにたいして、こちらのお店は休みなしだそうです。お仕事お疲れ様です。

Anyway, I have just had my dinner in Sumire (すみれ) which is a Korean restaurant in Furumachi. The lady in the restaurant is very friendly. You can enjoy talking to her. Find the place using the following latitude and longitude with Google maps.

This is the third time for me to come to Sumire. Tonight there were two “Joren” customers. Joren means a customer who visits the restaurant quite often and is known to the master well. I am a kind of new guy here, so tonight I just tried being silent(:D). But, you know, it is also a fun to listen to what other customers say. I enjoyed hearing their stories and eating Kimchi chige.

I could see several new things tonight. The board is new with an illustration of Korean lady.

Beer and side dishes. You can see the corner of “Menu” on right side of the photo. It seemed that the menu was also recently made.

Boiling Kimchi chigae with a lot of Tofu inside. What is the border line between Kimchi chigae and Dupu Chigae? Although it is not a big issue.

とうとう３回目の韓国家庭料理「すみれ」、旧松屋さんです。以前はソルラルに特別に料理を作っておられたそうですが、もうしなくなったそうです。私はキムチチゲをいただきました。私自身はマッコルリはとても素人ですが、今日いただいた一杯は、とても本格的なお味がしました。

Yesterday afternoon, I went to “International Barcode” next to Chidimi for my lunch. It seems like the place is famous among foreign people in Niigata. The location can be searched on the google maps by the following numbers;

Every times I came to a new Thai food restaurant, I order Green Curry. It is must. While waiting for the curry, the salad had gone into my stomach.

It is on the ground floor of a very old Japanese style wooden house. The wall is painted yellow so it is easy for you to find.

I ordered Kimchi Pork on the rice “Buta Kimuchi Donburi”.

I would say, there was a lot of pork, probably too much pork for my small stomach.

By the way, the important mission in Chidimi was to replace the monthly flier. If you want to see the following yellow flier, go to Chidimi and eat a lot of Korean Food.

I went today to a Chinese Restaurant “Houryuu” in Honcho. There is an old shopping mall in Honcho, Niigata. At the end of the street with roof, you will find “Oumi Shopping Center”. Houryu is just behind the door. For your convenience, the latitude and longitude are;

I visited there around 1p.m. When I sat at the table, I was only one in the restaurant. But so many people came then.

Anyway this is my Mabo Rahmen.

Of course I left a package of “Advertisement Tissue” there. It was Chinese version. I have to go to Thai and India restaurants to distribute English version of it. Please go to Houryuu and eat a lot of Chinese Food! Note that the restaurant closes in a little early evening because Oumi shopping center closes everyday around 5 p.m. or so.

And let me tell you my “Running around Furumachi”.  I went to Korean restaurant “Doremi（ドレミ） tonight and had a dinner there. It is a little difficult to tell you the location in English, so please google the following latitude and longitude. Anyway it is in the “drinking area” of Furumachi, Niigata.

Actually the photo below was taken last time on December 2018. I forgot to take a photo tonight because I was too drunken. As you see in the photo, Do, Re, and Mi are put on the places for Fa, La, and Do, respectively. But if you put them the correct positions on Do, Re, and Mi, they are too high or low. So you shouldn’t care such tiny thing. And I tell you, the important thing is that the one sharp is on the right position, I mean on Fa. So I think the person who made this lighting sign knew well about music sheet.

I ordered beer first. These three are “Otoushi”. The left is egg plants, the center is turnip (I have got to know this word this time first), and the right is slices of Daikon.

You guys know that I had already visited Korean restaurants many times. One thing I have noticed is that, even in Korean restaurant, it is rare to eat Kimchi these days. It is funny because Kimchi is the most important dish in Korean food. But I haven’t seen it as Banchan recently. Of course I can order Kimchi as one dish. But I worry that it may be too big to one person. Thinking about this issue well, I have reached a solution. Tonight is the time to try that solution. I ordered Kimchi Chigae.

I ordered Kimchi Chigae, but I saw the lady opened a can of SPAM in the preparation. Actually it was dream-like moment for me because I had another issue about Korean food. It was that I cannot order Budae Chigae for me because it is too big for one person. Maybe an explanation is needed. Budae Chige’s Budae means army unit. So the dish is always big such that is served in the army unit. And there is a rule. Budae chige must use SPAM.  I have long been dreamed to eat Budae chige with SPAM in Korean restaurant. But I have never eaten. Although it was not exactly a Budae Chigae, I would say, my dream came true tonight. I found many slices of SPAM in my Kimchi chigae.

When I left Doremi, I left 20 packages of paper towel as advertisement of my Japanese lesson. Go to Doremi in Furumachi and eat a lot of Korean Food.

韓国居酒屋ドレミでキムチチゲを食べました。ごちそうさまでした。SPAMが入っているキムチチゲというのも面白い発想でございました。また行きますよ～

And tonight I went to Yasuya in Minatomachidori 3 nocho for my dinner. It is a Chinese restaurant actually famous for its reasonable menu. It was windy and rainy, but somehow I could get to the restaurant in the residential area.

I ordered a 1-go (180ml) of Japanese Sake. The lady poured sake a lot to the Tokkuri bottle. It seemed to be more than 180ml. As you see in the photo, the color of label changed from yellow to light green. Soon you will see this “paper towel for promotion” in Korean, Chinese, Thai, and India restaurants around Furumachi (hope so).

Actually I try to eat less oil because my health check in May 2018 said that my cholesterol level is too high. So I changed my eating habit. I haven’t taken much oil these days. It sometimes makes me crazy for oily food, so tonight, I broke my rule not to eat oily food. I ordered a Yuurinchii (油淋鶏yóulínjī) set.

Ah, it was a big fried chicken. My dinner costed 1,026 JPY. Youlinji set menu was 550yen, one tokkuri of sake was 400yen, and 8% of sales tax. Anyway I strongly recommend you going to “Yasuya” and eating a lot of Chinese food.

When I gave the lady “Promotion paper towel”, I asked her “Zhong guo ren lai ma?” I meant “Do Chinese come (to this restaurant)?” hoping that she gave it to Chinese customers. She didn’t get what I said a while. When I opened the door to leave, she has got it and said “Zhong guo ren lai ma?”.  I was so happy that my simple Chinese was understood by her.
